My pottery is functional, to be used in everyday life. I firmly believe that the things we use every day should be beautiful — a delight to hold, to touch, to know.

My work is designed for everyday use – my range includes mugs, bowls, jugs, plates, teapots, teabowls and whisky drams made from high fired stoneware and porcelain. I aim to make work that fulfils the purpose for which it was made and brings daily moments of joy to those using it.

My current practice employs surface decoration (Hakeme Slipware) to create movement and life. Ash collected from my Highland hearth - used in the glazing process – offers a literal sense of place and time, interweaving earth, wood and air, offering an echo of home.

I grew up in the Scottish Highlands and for the last few years I have worked in different potteries across the UK and Europe. I recently returned to the Highlands to set up my own studio on the Black Isle.

I studied at the DCCOI’s Ceramic Skills Course in Thomastown, Ireland. This was an incredible experience – a beautiful old mill with yellow windows, fantastic facilities and dedicated tutors – a pottery school devoted to mastering technical and practical ceramic skills and knowledge. I spent a summer working for Richard Heeley. Following Thomastown, I apprenticed with Richard Heeley as part of the Adopt A Potter Scheme.

Prior to this I worked as a production potter in Potteriet Røros, Norway.

I also spent two summers training at The Leach Pottery, St Ives. A pottery steeped in ceramic history with a fantastic production team. It was a privilege and a joy to work there.

Previously to this I also worked as a Potter’s Assistant at The Harray Pottery, Orkney and The Cromarty Pottery, Cromarty after recently graduating from my BA Hons 3D Design degree at Gray’s School of Art.
